Do your

systems make it

easier to run your business?

Or harder?

Simple things take forever - v1 Final (REVISED v3 final).xlsx

Spreadsheets no one fully understands

It can happen
without you noticing.

And it works, mostly.

Until it doesn't.

Your systems
weren't designed for
what your business has become.

Let's fix that.

Your best people are leaving
because of your systems

Where it goes wrong

Dealing with difficult systems, and fixing the same things over and over, causes stress and frustration for your staff.

And every time someone leaves, they take everything they learned about your business and your customers with them. Then the system just gets even harder to fix.

Your customers feel it.

And so does whoever's left holding it together.

You're working
in the business,
not on it

You're working in the business,
not on it

Do you want to be growing your business,
instead of putting out fires?

You'd rather be doing the higher-value work: talking to your best customers, finding new ones. Looking ahead, deciding where to focus next, and making it happen.

Instead, you're stepping in to fix things. You can't step back, because some things only work if you're there.

You want your team to handle the day-to-day with confidence, so you can be free to do the important, necessary work that only you can do.

Making big decisions
based on instinct,
not good information?

Making big decisions based on
instinct, not good information?

Do you know what's actually profitable?
Which customers, and which activities?

Or are you guessing, from data that it takes someone two days to drag out, from spreadsheets that you can't quite trust anyway?

Are you confident you can make good decisions about your business based on this?

Beyond Excel

I built complex, business-critical Excel systems for years.

Excel was the original no-code platform, and at the time it was a great way for non-technical people to build powerful tools.

But that time has passed. There are far better options available today: tools that talk to each other, that hold a single set of accurate data, and that you can access from your phone.

Excel still has its place for one-off analysis, modelling, and exploration. But for the systems that run your business day to day, modern tools are more robust, more flexible, and far easier for your team to use confidently.

Our approach

You don't need a tech wizard.

You need someone who'll figure out how your business should actually work, alongside you.

We'll start by understanding how your business works today.

We'll clarify what your customers really want, and how your business should give it to them, profitably. We'll design simple, clear processes that work, so you and your team can make this happen for them.

We work all this out alongside you, so you stay in charge of how your business runs.

Only then do we design and build your new system, to support your new, clear processes. The smallest version that does the job: no overengineering, nothing you don't need.

When we're done, everything is yours:

  • The system, fully documented.
  • Your team trained to run it confidently.

You won't need me to keep it working. But I'll be there when you're ready to extend it, automate more of your good processes, or eventually layer AI on top of the clean data it needs.

Where does AI fit in? Click to open

It's true: AI can be genuinely transformative for some businesses.

But getting started is harder than the headlines suggest. If you've been wondering where to even begin, you're not alone.

The biggest barrier to using AI effectively that most small businesses face is having clean operational data for it to work with. AI is only as good as the information you give it. If your customer data is scattered across three spreadsheets and an inbox, and half your processes live in someone's head, then there's nothing solid for AI to be useful with.

We start with the foundation:
your data is clean, consistent, and in one place.

Then AI becomes a real option, and we can show you exactly where it fits in your business.

Is this you?

Working together

The first step: a conversation.
There's no obligation, and if I don't think I can help, I'll tell you.

If we're moving ahead, we'll start with a discovery and design phase. For an agreed fee, you'll have a clear picture of how your business will work, the shape of the system we'll build to support it, and a timeline for getting there.

Then if you're happy with the plan, we'll make it happen.

And how far we keep going after that is your call, agreed at each stage.

What changes:

  • Your team understand your business, and can do their jobs with less stress. They're more motivated, and they stay.
  • You make decisions about your business from data you can actually trust.
  • You build customer trust, and your reputation spreads.
  • You can step back from the day-to-day, and work on the parts of the business only you can do.

Hi, I'm Ross Logan.

I love taking business problems that seem complicated, and finding the simple, elegant way through them. I design the kind of solutions that make work easier and more enjoyable for the people who do it.

Ross Laidlaw

I've worked in operational roles across retail distribution, government, and consulting - leading teams, managing complex projects, and delivering technology and process changes that made real differences to how businesses ran. I'm a generalist by instinct: I make use of my broad knowledge across business, operations, data, and technology, and I know when to call in specialist help when it's needed.

I work alongside you. I'll ask a lot of questions - sometimes ones you might not have asked yourself yet, because the right solution often depends on getting the question right first. I'm good at the big picture and the details, and I won't lose sight of either. And I'll be honest with you, even when it's hard.

I know running a small business is hard work. The owners and teams I want to work with are the ones doing real things for real customers, who deserve to spend less of their time fighting their systems and more of it doing the work they're actually good at. That's what I'm here for.

Let's talk

Are your systems dictating how your business runs?
Are your best people leaving with knowledge you can't replace?
Are you spending your days fixing things instead of growing the business?

Let's have a conversation about what a better way could look like.
